Hermès · Grand Tralala Double-Sided 90cm Silk Scarf
Hand-rolled hem, twill silk scarf (100% mulberry silk)
Inspiration Story:
Inspired by the "Grand Tralala" scarf design, this piece pays tribute to the Hungarian Royal Guards who, during the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria (1848–1916), were entrusted with safeguarding the emperor and escorting his entourage. Their horses were adorned with magnificent harnesses—elaborate buckles gleamed, and the colorful leather reins and headstalls added a vibrant spectacle. The floral motifs featured in this design draw inspiration from wood panel paintings by German decorative artist Moritz Meurer, preserved within the private collection of Émile Hermès. Virginie Jamin has titled this composition "Grand Tralala," reinterpreting the iconic equestrian spirit that defines the Hermès heritage.
